About Lawn Aerating & Thatching Tri-Cities

Lawn Aerating & Thatching Tri-Cities didn’t start as a big company. It started the way many of the best local businesses do — one guy, one machine, and a lot of weekends.

How It Started

In 2010, Brad Short began offering lawn aeration services throughout Kennewick and the Tri-Cities. With a single aerator, he went door to door, helping homeowners improve their lawns one yard at a time. There were no shortcuts, no mass marketing, and no rented crews — just hard work, word of mouth, and pride in doing the job right.

As the years passed, demand grew. Brad reinvested into better equipment and expanded his operation to include two $15,000 stand-on and ride-on aerators — machines that are still the only ones of their kind in the Tri-Cities — along with a walk-behind aerator. Little by little, Lawn Aerating & Thatching Tri-Cities became a trusted name for homeowners who wanted real results, not quick fixes.

Eventually, the company reached a point where it was ready for its next chapter.

A New Chapter, Same Foundation

Today, Lawn Aerating & Thatching Tri-Cities is proudly owned and operated by Micah Valentine and Gabe Galbraith — two local guys committed to carrying forward what made this company special in the first place.

We didn’t buy this business to change its values.
We bought it to protect them — and improve everything around them.

Since acquiring the company, we’ve invested heavily in:

  • Better scheduling and communication
  • Cleaner, more reliable operations
  • Automation where it helps customers
  • Human connection where it matters most

We’ve modernized the systems behind the scenes while keeping the personal, family-owned feel customers have always trusted.

A Local Family Serving Local Families

We live here.
Our kids grow up here.
We work with — and for — the Tri-Cities community.

We believe outdoor spaces matter. Lawns are where kids play, families gather, neighbors connect, and pride of ownership shows. A healthy lawn isn’t just about grass — it’s about creating a space people enjoy together.

That’s why we focus on doing things the right way, not the fastest or cheapest way.

We operate with our own professional equipment, not rentals.

Our Equipment & Capabilities

Lawn dethatching in Eastern Washington

Our fleet includes:

  • 2 ride-on / stand-on commercial aerators
  • 1 walk-behind aerator
  • 2 walk-behind dethatching machines
  • Commercial trailers and hauling equipment
  • Dedicated service crews
  • Customer service systems and scheduling software
  • Branded vehicles and professional gear

Owning our equipment allows us to work faster, safer, and more consistently — and it ensures our crews are properly trained on the machines they use every day.

What Sets Us Apart

Many companies offering aeration and thatching don’t actually specialize in it.

Some:

  • Schedule jobs and rent machines from Home Depot
  • Use undertrained or improperly licensed crews
  • Subcontract the work to whoever is available
  • Treat aeration as an add-on, not a craft

Others are massive lawn care companies that don’t perform aeration themselves at all — they simply mark it up and pass the work along.

We don’t do that.

Aeration and thatching are not side services for us.
They are what we do.

Our crews specialize in this exact work. We own the equipment. We understand Tri-Cities soil. And we stand behind the results.

Our Logo & What It Represents

Our logo is more than a graphic — it’s a reflection of home.

The mountains represent Badger Mountain and Little Badger Mountain, with the sun setting behind them. It’s an iconic view recognizable from nearly anywhere in the Tri-Cities. For locals, it’s a familiar backdrop — something you see driving home, standing in your yard, or watching the day wind down.

The rising and setting sun represents growth, renewal, and seasons — the same cycles we work with every year in lawn care. Strong roots. Healthy ground. Long-term care.

It’s a reminder that we’re not just working on lawns —
we’re caring for the spaces people live their lives in.
